Steve and Elyse Douglas each had several years experience making and studying jewelry before their paths crossed at a Sonoma, California jewelry studio in 1981. They have since honed their craft and developed a synergy that results in some of the most creative jewelry to be found in the Pacific Northwest. Their passion for their art compels them to offer the most complete service available. This means discovering and mastering the newest leading-edge technology, maintaining a high degree of artistry grounded in the oldest traditions of the craft, while adding the personal touch that their clients deserve. |
Steve began his career in metals and lapidary in high school and was powerfully influenced by the German tradition of pride in craftsmanship. He has a highly developed mechanical/technical sensibility. He is our “Tech Wizard”. At the same time, he was strongly influenced by the creative freedom engendered in the cultural changes taking place in the American west in the 60’s and 70’s.
Elyse’s style tends towards the organic with asymmetrical form. She combines fluid lines and beautiful colored gems. Being the manufacturer of her own designs gives her control over the process that many jewelry designers don’t have. This allows her the ability to spontaneously adapt her pieces to her creative impulse as the work evolves. “It’s this that I treasure most about the creative process.”
Wedding and engagement rings are their specialty. Now, Douglas Fine Jewelry can help you visualize that one-of-a kind design with the aid of a revolutionary CAD/CAM (computer aided design/computer aided manufacturing) technology. Your design can be previewed in 3-dimensional renderings using McNeel & Associates Rhino CAD software and executed with unparalleled precision on their 4-axis CNC milling machine from Roland.
Along with CAD/CAM the Douglas’s recently added a laser welder to their already well equipped manufacturing studio. The combination of these leading edge technologies with Steve & Elyse’s long experience in jewelry design result in hard to imitate capabilities and efficiencies. For you this adds up to the best custom jewelry experience your money can buy.
